Our Chargé d'Affaires, Amy Davison, enjoyed meeting yesterday with Brian Kelly, CEO of Weza Power. Weza is finalizing negotiations with the Government of Burundi to—in partnership with the government utility REGIDESO—greatly expand the country’s electricity grid. This project will employ thousands of Burundians, invest over a billion U.S. dollars into the country, and provide electricity to millions of citizens. It will also provide power for critical sectors, such as mining and agro-processing, spurring economic growth and helping to achieve its Vision 2040 - 2060. We look forward to joining Weza in June as they finalize their partnership and break ground on this tremendous American investment into Burundi.
