Today is , a day to honour our ocean's critical role in sustaining life on Earth and to inspire positive change to keep our oceans beautiful for generations to come.

We know that here in Bermuda, the ocean is more than just a pretty sightβ€”it's part of our way of life. The Sargasso Sea surrounding our island supports an ecosystem rich in marine diversity, ocean research, and conservation research. With healthy coral reefs swimming with life, unique swimming holes, and centuries of maritime history, Bermuda truly embodies the spirit of ocean connection and care.

Today, we want to call out some organisations and businesses doing important work in marine conservation and research here in Bermuda. Give them a follow and find ways to get involved at the link below πŸ‡§πŸ‡²

🌊 BUEI (Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute): BUEI brings the wonders of the ocean to the public through interactive exhibits and programmes helping with education and marine awareness for our visitors and locals.

🌊 Living Reefs Foundation: This nonprofit is dedicated to coral restoration in Bermuda. Their work includes growing coral fragments in underwater nurseries and replanting them to revive damaged reefs, which are critical for local biodiversity and shoreline protection.

🌊 Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS): BIOS is a global centre for ocean research in climate change, ocean health, and coral reef ecosystems. Their public outreach and youth programs like the Bermuda Program and Ocean Academy inspire the next generation of ocean stewards.

🌊 Bermuda Ocean Prosperity Programme (BOPP): This initiative combines government, nonprofit, and scientific collaboration. It aims to develop a sustainable ocean plan that balances conservation with sustainable use, ensuring Bermuda’s marine resources are protected for future generations.
