The Department of Planning has launched a public opinion survey to gather feedback on the use of alternative forms of construction in Bermuda.

While these construction methods can be both convenient and cost-effective, the Department recognizes that their increased use may have a cumulative impact on the visual character of our island. Public input is therefore essential in helping to guide future policy decisions in this area.

To complete the survey, you can either:

a) Visit www.planning.gov.bm
b) Scan the QR code above
or
c) Click on this link https://arcg.is/0PHaiq1

The survey will remain open until 5 December 2025.

The Minister of the Cabinet Office & Digital Innovation, the Hon. Diallo Rabain, explained, “The feedback collected will play an important role in shaping the Department’s policy direction on the use of alternative construction materials and techniques going forward.”

The Department of Planning encourages all members of the public to share their views and thanks the community for its participation and continued engagement.

For further information or assistance accessing the survey link, please contact the Department at 297-7756.

👷‍♂️✨ Career Day in Action!

This week, our Electrical Inspector, Vernon Trott, had the pleasure of taking a Sandys Middle School student along for a day of site visits as part of the school’s Career Day. At just 13 years old, this student got a firsthand look at the world of construction and the important role electrical inspections play in keeping projects safe and up to code.

From wiring checks to safety reviews, it was a great opportunity to see the job up close and learn how our inspectors help keep Bermuda’s buildings safe and sound.

Honoring Jawonday’s Passion for the Environment

Yesterday, our team came together for a special cleanup event at Ferry Point Park in partnership with Keep Bermuda Beautiful (KBB), to honor the memory of our colleague and friend, Jawonday. His dedication to protecting Bermuda’s environment was truly inspiring, and this was a meaningful way to celebrate his legacy.

With the support of his family, we spent the afternoon removing litter and restoring the natural beauty of the park—something we know Jawonday would have deeply appreciated.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated. Let’s continue to care for our island, just as he would have wanted.
