Con motivo de Gandhi Jayanti y del Día Internacional de la No Violencia, el Embajador Rohit Vadhwana acompañó al Alcalde de La Paz, S.E. César Luis Dockweiler, a Ana Martínez, de las Naciones Unidas, y al Subalcalde de Mallasa, en una ceremonia especial realizada en el Parque Valle del Sol.

El evento incluyó una ofrenda floral a Mahatma Gandhi, la plantación de 20 árboles, una breve presentación teatral, una vibrante danza de la India y una actividad interactiva que invitó a los participantes a expresar, en una sola palabra, qué significa la paz para ellos.

Una significativa celebración del perdurable mensaje de Gandhiji de paz, armonía y no violencia.

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and the International Day of Non-Violence, Ambassador Rohit Vadhwana joined La Paz Mayor H.E. César Luis Dockweiler, Ana Martínez of the United Nations, and the Sub-Mayor of Mallasa for a special ceremony at Valle del Sol Park.

The event featured a floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the planting of 20 trees, a short theatrical performance, a vibrant Indian dance performance, and an interactive activity inviting participants to express in one word what peace means to them.

A meaningful celebration of Gandhiji’s enduring message of peace, harmony and non-violence.

Every 2 October, India commemorates the birth of Mahatma Gandhi, one of the most influential figures in its history. Gandhi transformed principles such as truth, peace, and non-violence —Ahimsa— into powerful tools for social change. Across India, the day is observed through tributes, prayers, and educational activities, particularly at Rajghat in New Delhi, where his memorial is located. Since 2007, the United Nations has also observed 2 October as the International Day of Non-Violence, carrying his message far beyond India’s borders.
