Manifest in Defense of Brazilians Federals Univeristies

Greetings for all academics and peers!

The brazilian federal universities are public institutions that produce highly qualified education and scientific studies, which helps the society with advanced reasearches. However, with the pandemic of Covid-19, the funding for public education has been attacked by the neoliberal and fascist government of Jair Bolsonaro.
This impacts directly on the production of education and science, and the permanation of the students on the institution.

NIGERIA, 2020.

Education professionals and concerned students have thrown their weight behind the calls for reform in the education sector by the protesters in the past two weeks saying that this clamour will reshape this pivotal sector for good.

Reacting to calls for a state of emergency to be declared in education as part of the 5 for 5 demands by the protesters, educationists, university professors and students who shared their views with Businessday say this action is a welcome development as it will help save millions of young Nigerians.

Educationists observe how the education system Nigeria is poorly funded with successive governments proposing less than 10 percent budgetary allocation to education. The sector is bedevilled with poorly equipped laboratories, uninhabitable hostels and unmotivated lecturers. Over 10.5 million young Nigerians are out of school, partly because of insecurity and education affordability.

حفاظاً على كيان الجامعة اللبنانية وتصدياً لكل محاولات تدميرها الممنهج (ريشار سمور)

منذ نشأتها.. الجامعة اللبنانية "تنتزع" وجودها من السلطة
من اعتكاف القضاة إلى إضراب أساتذة الجامعة اللبنانية منذ نحو ثلاثة أسابيع، لا يزال البلد يدور في دوامة الضغط والتعطيل والشلل والغليان الشعبي، بانتظار ما سيؤول إليه البحث الحكومي في بنود مشروع الموازنة العامة. لكنّ، ثمّة قطاعات عامة ترتبط دورة عمل موظفيها الرسميين بالمصالح المباشرة للمواطنين ومصائرهم، ما يجعل من الإضراب سيفًا ذا حديّن، للضغط الشعبي على السلطة من جهة، والضغط على مصالح المواطنين من جهةٍ أخرى. وهذا هو حال اعتكاف القضاة، الذي شلّ العمل في قصور العدل، كما هو حال إضراب أساتذة الجامعة اللبنانية، الذي عطل المرحلة النهاية من العام الدراسي لطلاب اللبنانية.
هدم الجامعة
وفي ظلّ الاعتصامات الحاشدة لأساتذة الجامعة اللبنانية وطلالبها يوم الجمعة، في 24 أيار 2019، في بيروت والشمال، احتجاجًا على محاولة الحكومة في مشروع موازنتها "قضم ميزانية الجامعة اللبنانية والانقضاض على مكتسبات الأساتذة من خلال صندوق التعاضد"، كان لـ"المدن" حديث مع رئيس الهيئة التنفيذية لرابطة متفرغي اللبنانية، الدكتور يوسف ضاهر، للتوقف على واقع الجامعة اللبنانية وما يدور في أروقتها

Repression of public university is routine for at least four months in India

New Delhi, the capital of India, is experiencing a week of terror. In four days, more than 30 citizens were killed during protests against the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The main point of questioning is changes in the law that discriminate against the Muslim population.

Activist and former leader of the Students Union of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi, Satarupa Chakraborty says that attacks are systematic against students and professors critical of Modi: “Wherever students are organizing to oppose and criticize government policies, they are under attack.”
In one of the most serious episodes to date, hooded members of the ABVP invaded JNU and assaulted more than 40 people, including teachers, civil servants and the current president of the Union of Students, Aishe Ghosh.
Two weeks ago, Modi met with the country's security forces and ordered police officers to monitor what happens inside universities and infiltrate whatsapp groups of opposition students as a preventive measure.

No entanto, com a pandemia de Covid-19, o financiamento para a educação pública tem sido atacado pelo governo neoliberal e fascista de Jair Bolsonaro.
Isso impacta diretamente na produção da educação, da ciência e na permanência dos alunos na instituição.

CHILE, 2019.

A revolução dos jovens contra o modelo social herdado de Pinochet

Os estudantes se rebelam há mais de uma década contra o sistema educativo implantado por Augusto Pinochet e contra a herança da ditadura. Desta vez, conseguiram o apoio de grande parte da sociedade chilena. “Nos acostumamos à violência, não temos nada a perder”, diz Víctor Chanfreau, de 17 anos, porta-voz da assembleia de estudantes secundaristas. “O neoliberalismo nasceu no Chile e morrerá no Chile".

Pinochet promulgou a Lei Orgânica Constitucional do Ensino, publicada no Diário Oficial em 10 de março de 1990 — mesmo dia em que o ditador cedeu a presidência a Patricio Aylwin. Seu último legado foi um sistema educativo que entregava o ensino público aos municípios e favorecia a segregação entre centros para ricos e centros para pobres, além de limitar um gasto estatal que ainda hoje, após várias reformas, continua sendo o mais baixo entre os países da OCDE. Era uma educação ajustada aos dogmas neoliberais. A universidade privada exige que os estudantes se endividem durante anos ou décadas para pagarem os cursos.

Manifestação contra o corte de verbas das Universidades Federais Brasileiras

Os manifestantes tomaram completamente o vão-livre do Museu de Arte de São Paulo (Masp), na Avenida Paulista, região central da capital. Os dois sentidos da via e as calçadas também foram ocupados. Na multidão, muitos estudantes, além de professores universitários, estaduais e municipais. Nas universidades públicas houve chamado para paralisar as atividades. Na Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp), não houve aula em nenhuma das faculdades, apenas as áreas essenciais de manutenção funcionaram. Na Universidade de São Paulo (USP) e na Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp), a decisão de assistir às aulas ou ir ao protesto ficou a cargo dos estudantes.

O Conselho de Reitores das Universidades Estaduais Paulistas (Cruesp) divulgou nota em apoio à manifestação. O comunicado destaca que as três instituições são respondem “por mais de 35% da produção científica nacional e são responsáveis por 35% dos programas de pós-graduação de excelência no país”.

De acordo com o conselho, no Brasil e em países desenvolvidos a pesquisa é financiada majoritariamente pelos governos. “Interromper o fluxo de recursos para estas instituições constitui um equívoco estratégico que impedirá o país de enfrentar e resolver os grandes desafios sociais e econômicos do Brasil.”
