The Bahamas Customs & Excise Department was honoured to attend Sunday worship at Prayer and Praise Assembly on Sunday, 14th June, 2026.

Comptroller of Customs, Mr. Ralph Munroe, along with the recruits of Cohort 2026, attended the service at the kind invitation of Her Excellency the Most Honourable Cynthia Pratt, Governor General of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

Also in attendance were Chief Customs/Revenue Officer Nekita Wood, and Customs/Revenue Officers II Phiora Evans and Dwight Grant.

The visit provided a meaningful opportunity for the recruits to reflect on service, discipline, humility, and national duty as they continue their journey toward becoming officers of the Bahamas Customs & Excise Department.

The Department remains committed to developing officers who serve with integrity, professionalism, and pride in country.

On April 27, 2026, The Bahamas Customs & Excise Department proudly welcomed over 100 new recruits during its Induction Ceremony.

The Department was honoured by the presence of Senator the Hon. Michael Halkitis, Minister of Economic Affairs, Financial Secretary Mr. Simon Wilson, Permanent Secretary Janice Miller of the Ministry of Finance, Comptroller of Customs Mr. Ralph Munroe and his Executive Team, members of the media, and other Customs staff.

Administrative Assistant Clinique Clarke delivered the Welcome Address and officially welcomed the new recruits as they begin their journey of service to country.

Comptroller Munroe reminded the recruits that they are entering the Department at a very important time and that their role will matter across the entire archipelago. He also emphasized the vital responsibility of Customs, noting that the Department accounts for more than 40 percent of the Government’s revenue.

Mr. Simon Wilson encouraged the recruits to rise to the expectations placed before them and noted that Customs plays a major role in the country’s overall revenue performance.

Senator the Hon. Michael Halkitis spoke on the importance of integrity and reminded the recruits to do what is right, even when the wrong choice may seem easier.

The ceremony concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Chief Customs/Revenue Officer Nekita Wood.

The Bahamas Customs & Excise Department extends best wishes to all recruits as they begin this important chapter. We welcome them to the Department and look forward to their contribution to the service of The Bahamas.

The Bahamas Agricultural Health and Food Safety Authority and Food Safety Authority
(BAHFSA) is responsible for the regulation of imported animal, plant, and food products into The Bahamas. In order to comply with the Department of Inland Revenue, BAHFSA wishes to inform importers that beginning June 1st, 2026, BAHFSA will be applying VAT inclusive pricing to all permits and services it offers.

The Bahamian Women Police Association recently hosted a spectacular Ladies Night Social at Versailles CRU as part of its 2026 International Women’s Day celebrations! 🥂✨

It was an incredible evening of unity, bringing together the phenomenal women who protect and serve our nation. From the Royal Bahamas Police Force and Royal Bahamas Defence Force to Bahamas Customs, Immigration, the Department of Correctional Services, and the Airport Authority—the spirit of camaraderie was unmatched! 🤝💪
