The Hon. Wayne R. Munroe, K.C., Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, welcomed members of the Board and senior executives of the Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA) during a courtesy call held at the Office of the Attorney General.
Among those in attendance were URCA Board Chairman Mr. Randol Dorsett, Deputy Chairman Mrs. Paula Adderley-Wilmott, Board Directors Mr. Brian Seymour and Mrs. Christina Davis-Justin, Chief Executive Officer Mr. J. Carlton Smith, Chief Operating Officer Mr. Waldon Russell, Director of Utilities and Energy Mr. Jonathan Hudson, and Director of Electronic Communications Mrs. Nicole Watkins.
The engagement underscored a shared commitment to effective governance, regulatory excellence, and the continued advancement of The Bahamas.

The Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Legal Affairs, together with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, is deeply saddened by the passing of Ms. Shenika Nottage, Janitress at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, who passed away this afternoon.
Ms. Nottage was a dedicated member of the public service and will be greatly missed.
On behalf of the Attorney-General, the Director of Public Prosecutions, and the staff of both offices, we extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they mourn her loss.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.

The Government of The Bahamas continues to advance its vision for a modern and efficient justice system with the next phase of development for the new Judicial Complex.
Following the successful demolition of the former Rodney Bain building, the Attorney-General, members of the Judiciary, project consultants, and contractors participated in an informational briefing outlining the upcoming stages of construction and design for the state-of-the-art facility.
The session provided stakeholders with an update on project timelines, technical plans, and key milestones as preparations continue for the commencement of construction. The new Judicial Complex represents a significant investment in the administration of justice and forms part of the Government’s broader commitment to strengthening the nation’s legal infrastructure and improving access to judicial services for all Bahamians.

The Bahamas Intellectual Property Office is pleased to announce that on Tuesday, 19th May, 2026, the Commonwealth of The Bahamas deposited instruments of accession to the Patent Cooperation Treaty done at Washington, on June 19, 1970, amended on September 28, 1978, and modified on
February 3, 1984, and on October 3, 2001.
The Patent Cooperation Treaty makes it possible to seek patent protection for an invention
simultaneously, in multiple countries, by filing an international patent application. Such an
application may be filed by anyone who is a national or resident of a PCT Contracting State.
The Bahamas is the 159th member and the 21st member of the Association of Caribbean States to join the PCT.

Heads of Departments in the Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Legal Affairs were presented with the country’s first Criminal Benchbook following its official launch by The Bahamas Judicial Education Institute on Wednesday, May 26, 2026.
The Benchbook was developed to assist with the interpretation of Bahamian legislation, with references to Bahamian case law, and serves as an important resource in strengthening the administration of justice in The Bahamas.
