Women of Purpose and Power242 Pays Courtesy Call on Commissioner of Police
The Commissioner of Police, Ms. Shanta E. Knowles, recently welcomed members of Women of Purpose and Power242 during a courtesy call at Police Headquarters.
The delegation, led by Founder and President Mrs. Deidre M. Bastian, visited the Commissioner as part of the organization’s preparations for its upcoming fifth anniversary celebrations. During the meeting, members shared the organization’s mission, highlighted its community outreach initiatives, and discussed its ongoing commitment to serving women, families, and vulnerable communities throughout The Bahamas.
Commissioner Knowles commended the organization for its dedication to community service and empowerment, noting the vital role civic and non profit organizations play in strengthening communities and fostering positive social change. She also expressed appreciation for the group’s efforts to support charitable causes and uplift women across the nation.
For the past four and a half years, Women of Purpose and Power242 has been actively involved in numerous outreach initiatives, including the distribution of food and clothing and visits to senior citizens’ homes and children’s homes throughout The Bahamas.
The courtesy call provided an opportunity for meaningful dialogue, strengthened collaboration, and reinforced partnerships aimed at improving the lives of Bahamians and building stronger, more resilient communities.

The RBPF Domestic Violence Stand Alone Unit recently hosted its Domestic Violence Awareness, Sensitization and Action Symposium at Police Headquarters, bringing together the U.S. Embassy and key community partners to raise awareness, encourage dialogue, and strengthen support for those affected by domestic violence.
Together, we are building safer communities through awareness, action, and partnership.
