The Port Department encourages you to stay safe while boating, by adhering to the following tips:

🌦Always be aware of the weather! If there is a chance of heavy rain or extreme weather conditions, don't go boating!

🔦Always have necessary equipment on board, such as life jackets, lights, distress signals, fuel, tools, first aid, and sound producing devices.

💨Operate at a safe speed.

⚠️Always be alert and aware of your surroundings.

🌊Take water currents and wind into account.

❌Don't drink and drive a boat or watercraft.

🛥Ensure that you know the rules of navigation on the waterways.

☀️Check the weather before you set out. If you notice dark clouds or sudden changes in the wind or temperature, avoid boating.

❗️Always wear a life vest or personal flotation device.

🚣‍As much as possible, ensure that someone else is on board who can comfortably operate the boat in the event of any emergencies.

‼️NB: Ensure that your private/ commercial vessel registration and inspection are up-to-date with the Port Department, along with master's licence. ‼️
