NIB has been plagued with a litany of controversies and bad press related to inefficiency, disorganization and alleged corruption over the past 4 years. Unfortunately, beneficiaries and claimants-regular Bahamians-are the ones who ultimately suffer from the ongoing challenges faced by the Board. With the recent resignation of Executive Director Bethel, the PLP government possessed a unique opportunity to introduce fresh, new leadership to take NIB into a completely different direction.

Instead, the new Acting Director with a Bachelors Degree in Interior Decorating, and years of teaching experience in interior decorating at BTVI, will steady the ship and take NIB boldly into the future!! πŸ€”πŸ€” Therefore, I will continue to keep our Bahamian brothers, sisters and senior citizens, who find it challenging and difficult on a daily basis to secure their benefits or claims owed to them, in prayer. This ga be very, very long. πŸ™πŸΎπŸ™πŸΎπŸ™πŸΎ

Alfred Gray on the news calling the FNM party a 'scrap gang'...very interesting observation. Mr. Gray needs to take a look at the "scrap gang" handling of affairs within his PLP government.

1. The multiple missteps and fiascos at BAMSI in the past year is 'scrap gang'.

2. The PLP government's highly touted but failed intervention into the 'very soon' opening of Baha Mar is 'scrap gang'.

3. The looming downgrade of The Bahamas' sovereign credit rating to near junk status by Moody's recently is 'scrap gang'.

4. The recent failure of NIB to deliver benefit payments to customers in a timely manner despite the implementation of a dysfunctional $14 million dollar IT system is 'scrap gang'.

5. Claiming to have the answers to crime before election and failing to get a handle on the crime problem in 4 years is 'scrap gang'.

6. The PLP government's handling of the recent Gender Equality referendum and the announcement of the results was also 'scrap gang'.

7. Telling your constituents to go into the caves during Hurricane Joaquin is 'scrap gang-ster'.

8. Allegedly contacting a local magistrate to exert undue political pressure and simultaneously attempt to pervert the course of justice is also 'scrap gang-ster'.

Finally, PLP Cabinet Minister V. Alfred Gray, a so-called 'scrap gang' FNM party has 11 months to get it together, but a 'scrap gang', failed PLP government of 4 long years is running out of time!

BEC Transition deal signed (July 23, 2015, The Tribune):

http://m.tribune242.com/news/2015/jul/23/bec-transition-deal-signed/?templates=mobile
Excerpts below:

Deputy Prime Minister Philip β€œBrave” Davis, with several PowerSecure officials, yesterday signed off on what the Minister of Works said was β€œanother important step forward towards reducing the cost of electricity and increasing the reliability of power in the Bahamas.”

Mr. Davis said he now expects that the cost of electricity for consumers will eventually drop from 40 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) to 30 cents per kWh.

BPL eyes rate hike (May 31, 2016, The Nassau Guardian)

http://www.thenassauguardian.com/news/65239-bpleyes-rate-hike
Excerpts below:

Bahamas Power & Light (BPL) CEO Pamela Hill intends to raise electricity rates, Guardian Business has learned, although Prime Minister Perry Christie is said to have veto power over the decision.
Some sources say the rates could go up by as much as 12 to 15 percent, and the rate hike does not include the rate reduction bond included to help pay off the $450 million legacy debt strangling BPL’s parent, the Bahamas Electricity Corporation (BEC).
Hill also noted that the fuel charge structure will not change – customers will still pay a fuel charge based on international oil prices – but with more efficient engines the amount of fuel will decrease and customers could see lower bills.

The PLP...delivering the opposite of what they promised to you!
