The Department of Workforce Planning and Skills Development, Bhutan conducted a Gender Sensitisation Programme for representatives from industries, non-governmental organisations, and corporate institutions on May 21 in Thimphu.
The programme was facilitated by Ms Rinzin Dema from RENEW and aimed to strengthen awareness and understanding of Gender Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (GEDI) in workplace settings. The initiative sought to promote inclusive, respectful, and safe working environments across organisations and institutions.
Key topics related to gender equality, diversity, workplace inclusion, prevention of discrimination and harassment, and the promotion of equitable opportunities for all employees were covered during the programme.
Participants were also introduced to practical approaches for fostering positive workplace culture and strengthening institutional practices that support inclusion and respect in the workplace.
Through interactive discussions, case studies, and group exercises, participants exchanged experiences and reflected on workplace challenges and opportunities related to gender and inclusion.
The sessions encouraged participants to identify practical measures that could be implemented within their respective organisations to promote safer and more inclusive work environments. It further emphasised the importance of collective responsibility among employers and employees in creating workplaces that uphold dignity, respect, and equal opportunity.
The programme was funded by ADB under the Pathways for Emerging Skills and Jobs Project.
The Department reaffirmed its commitment to promoting gender-responsive and inclusive workplace practices through continued awareness programmes and collaboration with relevant stakeholders and partner organisations.

The collaboration further reflects our shared commitment to strengthening the quality, relevance, and global engagement of Bhutanโs TVET sector. As part of the QES Scholarship program, five TVET trainers are also expected to travel to Humber Polytechnic in September 2026 for international exposure and professional exchange.

We are proud to mark the successful completion of the Masters Training of Trainers (TOT) Program for TVET professionals in the fields of Event Management, Digital Marketing, and Landscape Technology. ๐ฑ๐ป๐
The program was facilitated by distinguished faculty members from Humber Polytechnic, whose expertise and guidance greatly enriched the learning experience of all participants.
Conducted under the BEST Project, the program aimed to strengthen the knowledge, practical skills, and innovative teaching approaches of TVET professionals to support the delivery of three new courses: Diploma in Digital Marketing, Diploma in Landscape Technology, and Certificate in Event Management, which will be launched at TTI-Thimphu, RDTC, and RITH respectively.

XR Week at TTI-Samthang!
A new era of TVET innovation begins as cutting-edge Extended Reality (XR) technology being introduced for the first time in Public TVET Institutes of Bhutan, transforming learning at Technical Training Institute, Samthang.
With the generous support of the GovTech Agency, in collaboration with the Department of Workforce Planning and Skills Development (DWPSD), MoESD, Yoy Simulators from Chile has successfully established an XR Lab for the Mobile Crane Operation course at TTI-Samthang.
This initiative marks a major step towards immersive high-tech solutions, hands-on, and future-ready skills training, preparing Bhutanese youth for emerging opportunities under the visionary Gelephu Mindfulness City initiative. It also reflects a significant milestone in advancing the nationโs TVET Reform and Education and Skilling Roadmap.

A total of 21 TVET Trainers were certified as Professional TVET Trainer on 4th May, 2026 after completion of all four modules of Technical Instruction and Andragogy conducted by Technical Trainers Training and Resource Center, Department of Workforce Planning and Skills Development.
The cohort represents TVET Trainers from a diverse range of organisations, professional backgrounds, qualifications, and occupational fields. Participants include representatives from both public and private TVET Institutes including NGO registered training institutes. The Director, Department of Education Program, Ministry of Education and Skills Development graced the closing and certification ceremony.

Across the country, institutes of Zorig Chusum and Technical Training Institutes were filled with devotion and joy as teachers and trainees offered prayers to Zorig Lha and Kalachakra, received timeless blessings, and celebrated their achievements.
Zorig Day is observed annually on the 15th day of the third lunar month. It is a proud occasion for all artisans (zorigpa) who preserve and promote Bhutanโs thirteen traditional arts and crafts, as well as contemporary skills.

With support from BEST project, the Training of Trainers (TOT) to build the capacity of trainers/lecturers at RITH, TTI-T, RDTC, and TTI-S in delivering new Humber-supported courses, commenced this week.
Expert faculty from Humber PolytechnicโAnna Mary Santilli, Sadaf Virji, and Liane Cookโare in Bhutan to deliver the TOT program, equipping trainers/lecturers with the skills to deliver Event Management (NC 3) at RITH, Landscape Technology (Diploma) at RDTC, and Digital Marketing (Diploma) at TTI-T, which is expected to be launched in 2026.
