A Milestone in BADRC’s Institutional Journey
The Bhutan Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre (BADRC), with the support of Druk Green Power Corporation Limited (DGPC), commenced a three-day training program on International Arbitration, Contract Negotiation, Management & Dispute Prevention for the Energy Sector, from 5–7 October 2026 in Thimphu.
The opening session was graced by Hon’ble Minister Lyonpo Sonam Tashi, Minister of Energy & Natural Resources and Dasho Chhewang Rinzin, Managing Director of DGPC.
For BADRC, this programme represents much more than a training event. It reflects the Centre’s growing role not only as an institution that administers arbitration and mediation, but also as a platform for building Bhutan’s professional capacity in modern dispute resolution.
As Bhutan undertakes larger and increasingly sophisticated energy, infrastructure and cross-border commercial projects, the ability to negotiate and manage contracts effectively, prevent disputes at an early stage, and resolve disputes through credible arbitration mechanisms will become increasingly important.
Bringing international expertise together with Bhutanese professionals is therefore an important part of BADRC’s broader institutional journey. Building domestic expertise, strengthening confidence in ADR, developing international linkages, and positioning Bhutan as a credible jurisdiction for the resolution of commercial disputes.
The partnership with DGPC is particularly significant. It demonstrates how BADRC can work closely with key institutions and industries to develop dispute-resolution capacity that responds to Bhutan’s emerging economic needs.
BADRC extends its sincere appreciation to DGPC for its partnership and support, to our distinguished resource persons for sharing their knowledge and experience, and to all participants for their active engagement.
For BADRC, every such initiative is another step towards building a robust, trusted and internationally connected ADR ecosystem for Bhutan.
