Bhutan's arbitration landscape is evolving, with growing interest in strengthening its institutional capacity for effective dispute resolution. Join us for the SIAC-BADRC Conference, bringing together experts from SIAC, Bhutanese legal professionals, and members of the judiciary to explore emerging trends and best practices in international arbitration. The Conference will be followed by a training programme in which SIAC speakers will lead sessions on Institutional Arbitration, with a focus on the SIAC Rules 2025 (7th Edition).

On April 6-7th, 2026, the Bhutan ADR Centre had the privilege of hosting a two-day Training on Construction Arbitration in collaboration with White & Case at Terma Linca Resort & Spa, Thimphu.

With the majority of cases handled by BADRC being construction arbitration, this training was not just timely, it was essential. This training is also a part of our policy to formalise Mandatory Professional Development Programs, aligned with the broader Continuing Legal Education requirements of the Justice Sector.

The training was attended by arbitrators, lawyers from the OAG, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Financial Institutions, and the Bar Council. Over the two days, we explored:

Day 1 - Construction Claims
- Dispute resolution choices for construction contracts
- Making construction claims
- Variations, defects, and unforeseeable site conditions

Day 2 - Construction Arbitration
- Time-related claims (liquidated damages, extensions of time)
- Initiating construction arbitration
- Procedural issues, written submissions, document production, and the role of experts
- Hearings and drafting construction awards

The following list of candidates is shortlisted for the position of Registrar and Tribunal Secretaries at Bhutan Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre based on their LLB/PGDNL scores.

The shortlisted candidates must sit for a written examination on September 18, 2025. The shortlisted candidates must also appear for VIVA VOCE with original documents and certificates at Bhutan Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre on September 22, 2025.

On 10th May 2024, the Bhutan ADR Centre happily welcomes Hon'ble Dasho Tenzin as our new Chief Administrator. Before joining us, Dasho Tenzin served as the Judge(Drangpon) at Wangdue Phodrang. The entire ADR team offers our best wishes as Dasho take on this role as our 4th Chief Administrator.
