๐๐ ๐๐๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ก๐๐ง๐ : The National Biodiversity Centre welcomed Class IX science students from Motithang Higher Secondary School for an educational visit and biodiversity awareness session.
The students were introduced to the conservation works of the Centre and also attended a live demonstration of the Bhutan Biodiversity Portal (BBP), where they learned how students and citizens can contribute to biodiversity documentation through citizen science.
The visit also included guided tours to various facilities of the Centre, providing students with hands-on exposure to biodiversity conservation and research initiatives in Bhutan.

The National Biodiversity Centre under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock successfully organized the Annual Project Review and Planning Workshop for the project titled โParticipatory On-farm Conservation and Sustainable Use of Native Horticulture Crop Diversity (NHCD)โ from 25โ26 May 2026 at Druk Deothjung Resort.
Supported by the Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation, the two-day workshop brought together Agriculture Extension Officials, farmer representatives, researchers, and project partners from across the country to review implementation progress, identify challenges, and jointly plan activities for the projectโs final implementation year (July 2026โJune 2027).

The program was attended by Class XI and XII students along with teachers of the school.
The session aimed to create awareness among young people about the importance of biodiversity conservation and the legal frameworks established in Bhutan to protect the countryโs rich biological resources.

Jointly organized by the Trashigang Dzongkhag Administration and the National Biodiversity Centre (NBC), the fair celebrated Bhutanโs rich biodiversity and agro-biodiversity, while recognizing the invaluable role of farmers in conserving native crop varieties and traditional agricultural knowledge for future generations.
Farmers from all 15 gewogs of Trashigang, along with participants from other dzongkhags, Community Seed Banks, ARDCs, and partner institutions showcased a remarkable diversity of native crops, rare varieties, and climate-resilient agricultural practices.
The event also served as an important platform for awareness creation, knowledge sharing, seed exchange, and inspiring students and the public on the importance of biodiversity conservation and sustainable agriculture.
Certificates of Recognition were awarded to outstanding participants, and the winners of the Wild Bhutan Challenge 2026 were also announced during the event.
The 11th Biodiversity Fair was funded by the Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation.

The students explored various biodiversity conservation programs of the Centre and also attended an awareness session on the Bhutan Biodiversity Portal (BBP), where they learned about biodiversity documentation and citizen science contributions in Bhutan.
The visit provided valuable practical exposure linking classroom learning with real-world biodiversity conservation initiatives.
