The Financial Intelligence Department (FID) of the RMA recently conducted an awareness programme for Integrated Check Post (ICP) police personnel at various land-ports of the southern borders on cross-border transportation of physical currency and bearer negotiable instruments (BNIs).
The programme covered 17 Integrated Check Posts and 278 officials across southern border regions including Phuentsholing, Gelephu, Samdrup Jongkhar, Nganglam, Panbang, Lhamoidzingkha, and Samtse.
Travellers entering or leaving Bhutan with cash or BNIs exceeding USD 10,000 are required to declare the amount at entry or exit points.
This initiative strengthens the effective implementation of currency declaration requirements and supports Bhutanโs efforts to combat money laundering and terrorism financing.

Pelsup Yeshi Dema (Department of Financial Regulation & Supervision) and Pelsup Yeshi Lhamo (Regional Office, Phuentsholing) have resumed their dedicated duties after successfully completing the prestigious Pelsung Training Program (2nd Cohort). A three-month leadership initiative inspired by His Majesty's vision to empower the youth of Bhutan as capable custodians of the Gelephu Mindfulness City.

All travelers are required to declare cash or bearer negotiable instruments exceeding $10,000 or its equivalent when entering or leaving the country through "Airports or Land Ports".
Please declare to the Department of Revenue & Customs or Royal Bhutan Police authorities to ensure compliance with regulations and avoid penalties.

Consultative Meeting on Account Aggregator Application with Financial Institutions and Service Providers
As per the directives of the National Financial Inclusion Governing Body (Steering Committee), the Financial Inclusion Secretariat in collaboration with the Department of Technology and Innovation, convened a consultative meeting with Heads of IT Departments from financial institutions and service providers to deliberate on the Account Aggregator Application.
The envisioned application is designed as a one-stop digital financial platform, enabling Bhutanese citizens to access a consolidated 360-degree view of their financial profiles including deposits, loans, insurance, pension and provident funds, securities, and other financial services while promoting financial education and inclusive access to financial services.
The session provided a valuable platform for in-depth technical discussions and insights and feedback from IT experts were instrumental in refining and strengthening the concept. Such collaborative engagements are essential in transforming innovative ideas into secure, robust and citizen-centric digital public infrastructure that strengthens Bhutanโs financial ecosystem.

As part of Bhutanโs renewed commitment to advancing financial inclusion, the National Financial Inclusion Steering Committee successfully concluded the first version of the Financial Inclusion National Action Plan (v1.0) and initiated the re-strategizing for version 2.0 with a stronger focus on building digital financial public infrastructure and driving a digital ecosystem to advance the financial inclusion agenda marking an important step in shaping the next phase of Bhutanโs financial inclusion journey.
Chaired by the Governor of RMA, the meeting brought together CEOs from banks, insurance, stock exchange, Credit Information Bureau and microfinance institutions.
The Steering Committee also appointed the Deputy Governor as the Vice-Chair of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy.
Through the Financial Inclusion Secretariat, RMA reaffirmed its commitment to work closely with stakeholders in advancing financial inclusion as a key enabler of sustainable economic growth and shared prosperity in Bhutan.
