This evening, I had the honour of addressing the General Debate of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly at the UN Headquarters in New York. I conveyed the warm greetings and good wishes of His Majesty The King and extended an open invitation to investors and leaders from around the world to join us in building the Gelephu Mindfulness City, a pioneering endeavour that seeks to balance economic prosperity with sustainability.
Earlier in the day, I addressed the high-level event, “Beyond 2030: Renewing the Global Commitment to End Poverty in All Its Dimensions” which was co-hosted by Bhutan, the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and Multidimensional Poverty Peer Network (MPPN).
On the sidelines of the General Debate, I also met with H.E. Mr. Tarique Rahman, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, and H.E. Mr. To Lam, President of Viet Nam, to discuss matters of mutual interest and strengthen our bilateral relations.
