The Opposition Party of Bhutan joins the nation in offering our heartfelt prayers on the joyous occasion of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck's 52nd Coronation Day. We humbly pray for His Majesty's continued good health, happiness and long life.

We also wish Happy Social Forestry Day to all for preserving our forest and fulfilling the mandate enshrined in our sacred Constitution.

During the Question Hour on 29th May 2026 the Members of Opposition questioned on the following concerns and issues:

The Member from Dewathang-Gomdar Constituency questioned on the status of the 404 MW Nyera Amari I & II Integrated Hydropower Project to the Minister for Energy and Natural Resources.

The Member from Khamdang-Ramjar Constituency raised concerns to the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport on mandatory geotechnical and soil testing requirements for landowners.

Supplementary questions were raised by Leader of Opposition, Members from Thrimshing-Kangpara, Nganglam, Kengkhar-Weringla, Gangzur-Minjey and Monggar constituencies on hydropower and human-wildlife conflict related issues.

𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐫

During the Question Hour session on 22 May 2026,

The Member from Kengkhar-Weringla Constituency questioned the Prime Minister on Bhutan’s declining birth rate, youth out-migration, and ageing population, and Third Child Incentive.

The Member from Khamdang-Ramjar Constituency questioned the Minister of Finance on the Rural Life Insurance Scheme(RLIS) Revision from Nu. 30,000 to Nu. 150,000.

The Member from Thrimshing-Kangpara Constituency questioned the Prime Minister on measures to reduce fuel expenditure through the use of electric vehicles and regulation of government vehicle usage.

The Member from Gangzur-Menjey Constituency questioned the Minister of Finance on Bhutan’s external debt sustainability and exposure to currency depreciation risks.

Leader of the Opposition and Members for Nganglam, Bartsham-Shongphu and Radhi-Sakteng raised supplementary questions on the above matters.

𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐫

During Question Hour on 19th May 2026, the Member from Khar–Yurung Constituency questioned the Minister for Agriculture and Livestock on the need to consider chain-link fencing even for less than 30-acre landholding to benefit small and scattered farming communities affected by wildlife depredation.

The Member from Dewathang–Gomdar Constituency questioned the Minister for Education and Skills Development on the nationwide readiness assessment for the implementation of the Cambridge curriculum alignment with regard to teacher preparedness, infrastructure, availability of materials, and rural–urban disparities.

Supplementary questions were raised on above matters by the Leader of the Opposition and other Opposition Members.

𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐳𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐡𝐚𝐠 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

The Leader of Opposition and Members of Parliament from constituencies under Trashigang Dzongkhag interacted with student parliamentary representatives from schools across Trashigang today at the Gyalyong Tshogkhag.

The students are visiting to better understand the role of Parliament and the parliamentary process, while gaining exposure to civic responsibility, democratic governance, leadership, and Bhutan’s development philosophy.

During the interaction, the Leader of Opposition highlighted the importance of such engagements in preparing our youth to serve the King, Country, and the People with responsibility and dedication.
