Gaselo Primary School successfully conducted a Backwoods Cooking Activity among the school’s Scout groups. The activity provided students with an opportunity to develop essential survival and life skills through hands-on, outdoor learning.
Through this activity, the Scouts were tested and encouraged to develop:
1. Fire-making and fire-safety skills
2. Basic outdoor cooking skills
3. Resourcefulness and problem-solving
4. Teamwork, cooperation, and leadership
5. Survival and self-reliance skills
6. Cleanliness and environmental responsibility
7. Time management and discipline
8. Confidence and independence
The activity was not only enjoyable but also helped students learn by doing, work together, take responsibility, and become more confident in handling real-life situations. Such experiential learning activities contribute to the holistic development of our young Scouts.
