LEA Participates in Conversations with Gofaone Live: SME Financing Dialogue

The Local Enterprise Authority (LEA), represented by Ms Dynah Solani, Head of Information & Knowledge Management, recently participated in the Conversations with Gofaone Live: SME Financing Dialogue, a high-level platform that brought together entrepreneurs, financiers, and ecosystem stakeholders to discuss SME and start-up financing in Botswana.

The event commenced with welcome remarks by Ms Naseem Lahri, Managing Director of Lucara Botswana, followed by a keynote address by Mr Molefi Letsiki of Molefi Letsiki Diamonds, who shared insights on entrepreneurship, resilience, and building sustainable enterprises.

The panel discussion was moderated by Ms. Gofaone Modise, Host and Producer of Conversations with Gofaone Live. The distinguished panel comprised Mr Marc Watum of the DRC Mining Ministry, Mr Kabo Phetlhu of BDIH, Ms Dynah Solani of LEA, and Mr Tefo Setlhare of Treehaus.

During the discussion, LEA highlighted three key areas:

• Enterprise Development Pathways – the importance of business advisory services, incubation, mentorship, and capacity building in preparing entrepreneurs for growth and investment readiness.

• Access to Finance and Ecosystem Collaboration – strengthening partnerships among financiers, support institutions, and entrepreneurs to improve access to capital and enterprise sustainability.

• Data-Driven Enterprise Support – the need for credible enterprise data and coordinated interventions to enhance the effectiveness and impact of SME development programmes.

The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session and networking refreshments, providing participants with an opportunity to engage directly with the panel and build meaningful connections within the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
