US EMBASSY STRENGTHENS HEALTHCARE SUPPORT THROUGH MEDICATION DONATION
Key stakeholders gathered at Bontleng Clinic for the handover of ARV and TB medication donated through the support of the United States Embassy, an initiative aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and ensuring continued access to essential treatment for communities.
Delivering the keynote address, Minister of Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Honourable Ketlhalefile F.C Motshegwa, emphasised the importance of health sector development and collective responsibility in safeguarding communities. He noted that the deterioration of health services can have serious consequences and commended the United States Embassy for consistently answering the call to support Botswana’s healthcare priorities.
Member of Parliament for Gaborone South and Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Honourable Nelson Ramaotwana, highlighted the power of partnership in responding to community needs. He expressed gratitude to the United States Embassy for its continued support, noting that the provision of essential medication and resources brings renewed strength in the fight against health challenges.
The City Mayor, His Worship Oarabile Senyolonyolo Motlaleng, appreciated the collaboration between stakeholders, highlighting that partnerships of this nature play a significant role in improving services delivered to residents. He noted that supporting healthcare facilities is an investment in the wellbeing and future of communities.
The United States Ambassador to Botswana, His Excellency Ambassador Howard Van Vranken, reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to supporting Botswana’s health sector. He highlighted that the assistance valued at approximately P13.5 million reflects a continued commitment to strengthening healthcare systems and responding to critical health needs.

CITY MAYOR AND UN-HABITAT STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIP FOR SUSTAINABLE URBAN DEVELOPMENT
The City Mayor Oarabile Motlaleng and UN-Habitat Head of Sub-Regional Office For Africa, Southern Africa,Regional Office For Africa Mr Masayuki Yokota have further their collaboration to advance sustainable urban development, regional cooperation, and climate resilience. The partnership gained momentum following the establishment of the UN-Habitat office in Botswana, funded by the Government through the Ministry of Water and Human Settlement and officially launched in the presence of national leadership.
Mr Yokota underlined that The collaboration extends beyond Botswana through close engagement with the SADC Secretariat, including the development of the SADC Regional Strategy for the Transformation of Informal Settlements, which has been endorsed by all member states.
The City Mayor Motlaleng emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships, knowledge sharing, and active participation in regional and international urban forums.
He mentioned that he is looking forward to the advancement of the projects and also the utilization of most open spaces for urban greenery as a way of city beautification and resource management.
