MATSHELAGABEDI EMBRACES THE OLYMPIC SPIRIT!
The Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) successfully celebrated Olympic Day 2026 in Matshelagabedi, bringing together the community for a memorable day of movement, inspiration, and celebration.
The day commenced with an energizing warm-up session followed by the Olympic Day Walk, as participants of all ages came together to promote healthy living and the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship, and Respect.
The celebrations were further enriched by welcoming remarks from community leadership, captivating entertainment performances, and a thought-provoking keynote address by Mr. Glory Dube, who inspired attendees with a powerful message on the role of sport in transforming lives, building communities, and empowering future generations.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all participants, partners, volunteers, and stakeholders whose support made the event a resounding success. Your enthusiasm and commitment continue to demonstrate the unifying power of sport.

BNOC hosted the ODC Thamaga Edition in collaboration with Thamaga CJSS and the Thamaga community.
The commemoration kicked off with a vibrant 10km Run/Walk, bringing together students and community members in a shared celebration of sport, health, and unity.
This initiative aligns with our mandate of promoting community development through sport while encouraging active lifestyles that support fitness, well-being, and healthy living for all.

Olympic Day is celebrated annually on 23 June to commemorate the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1894. It is a global celebration that highlights the power of sport to inspire positive change, promote healthy lifestyles and unite communities around the world.
Olympic Day is built around four key pillars:

Encouraging people of all ages and abilities to be physically active and enjoy the benefits of sport and exercise.

Promoting the Olympic values of Excellence, Respect and Friendship, while demonstrating the positive impact of sport on society.
