NAHPA, the driving force behind the ππ¨ππ’ππ₯ ππ¨π§ππ«ππππ’π§π ππ«π¨π π«ππ¦π¦π (πππ), successfully supported Botswana Network Of AIDS Service Organizations-BONASO in conducting the SCP Induction Workshop from 17β18 June 2026. The workshop brought together implementing thematic coordinators and technical teams to align priorities and strategies for the 2026/27 implementation period, under NAHPAβs leadership and commitment to strengthening community systems and improving health outcomes.
The induction focused on programme implementation, financial management, monitoring & evaluation, compliance, grant accountability, and strengthening partnerships to enhance programme impact. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to improving service delivery, strengthening community systems, and reaching populations most in need.
Day two featured practical training on the Data Portal and compliance with the Data Protection Act, strengthening partners capacity to effectively manage and safeguard programme data.
NAHPA remains steadfast in fostering collaboration, accountability, and evidence-based programming to improve health outcomes and create sustainable community impact. With Botswana Network Of AIDS Service Organizations-BONASO as a π€ππ² π’π¦π©π₯ππ¦ππ§ππ’π§π π©ππ«ππ§ππ«, both organizations reaffirm their shared commitment to strengthening service delivery, empowering communities, and reaching populations most in need.

SAINT BERNADETTE CHURCH COMMUNITY JOINS THE FIGHT AGAINST NCDs
βToday, NAHPA joined the St. Bernadette Catholic Church community for a fun run held under the theme βFaith in Every Step.β The 10 km run successfully promoted active living and community engagement as part of ongoing efforts to combat Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).

βNAHPAβs Agt Director, Health Promotion, Mr. Nonofo Leteane, who participated as a guest runner, encouraged community members to take charge of their health by making healthier food and lifestyle choices. He also emphasized the importance of regular physical activity, noting its significant benefits for both physical and mental well-being.

βThe event brought together participants of all ages and highlighted the growing public health challenge posed by NCDs. It underscored the importance of adopting proactive lifestyle habits to prevent and manage these conditions.

βThis event aligned physical wellness with spiritual responsibility, demonstrating how faith communities can play a meaningful role in promoting healthier lifestyles.

NAHPA, in partnership with BONASO, successfully convened the FY 2026/27 Social Contracting Programme Directorsβ Inception Meeting in Gaborone, bringing together coordinating entities and the funder to align priorities and strengthen collaboration for the new implementation year.
The meeting provided a valuable platform to reflect on lessons learned from the previous financial year, discuss expectations for FY 2026/27, and review implementation plans across the various programme areas. Key discussions emphasized the importance of sustainability, accountability, effective grant management, and strong partnerships in delivering high-quality, community-led interventions.
As the Social Contracting Programme enters a new implementation cycle, stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to expanding access to health services, strengthening community systems, and improving health outcomes through coordinated action and shared responsibility across Botswana.
Together, we remain committed to building resilient communities and advancing Botswanaβs response to HIV, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), and other critical public health priorities.

Through Botswana Network of AIDS Services Organizations. (BONASO), National AIDS and Health Promotion Agency (NAHPA) recently convened a consultative meeting with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), development partners, and other key stakeholders to discuss the proposed Data Processing Agreement under the Government of Botswana United States Government Health Assistance Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The meeting provided an important platform for engagement on key issues relating to data governance, privacy protection, and compliance with Botswanaβs Data Protection Act. Discussions focused on ensuring that health information continues to be managed responsibly and utilized effectively to support programme implementation, monitoring, and evidence-based decision-making.
Stakeholders emphasized the importance of robust data governance frameworks in safeguarding personal information, strengthening public trust, and enhancing accountability across the health sector. The consultation also explored opportunities and challenges related to data sharing, institutional readiness, system standardization, and community engagement.
The meeting reaffirmed a collective commitment to strengthening collaboration, building institutional capacity, and implementing effective data protection measures that support improved health outcomes and the sustainable delivery of health programmes in Botswana.
