North East District Council wishes to inform all aspiring Village Development Committee (VDC) and Ward Development Committee (WDC) candidates, as well as members of the public, that amendments have been made to the election schedule.

📌 The extension is intended to accommodate applicants who have experienced delays in obtaining police clearances. However, police clearance remains a prerequisite for assuming office as an elected VDC/WDC member.

North East District Council, has today issued an Order following a directive from the 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬, that the requirement for applicants to submit a Criminal Clearance Certificate as part of the VDC membership application process has been withdrawn with immediate effect.

Therefore, applicants are 𝐧𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 required to submit a criminal clearance certificate. Applications that were pending due to non-submission will now be processed using the other required documents. The cancellation is intended to simplify the application process and encourage wider community participation in VDC structures.

Kindly note that, the police criminal clearance will be required upon assuming office.

The North East District Council informs parents and guardians that registration for Reception Classes for the year 2027 at Masunga Primary School will commence as follows:

Having previously served as temporary cleaners, they are now part of the Council workforce as first appointments, continuing their duties with dedication and commitment to service delivery.
