ARTESIA KGALAGADI SAND BUILDING BLOCKS (KSBB)
KSBB is a brick predominantly made of Kgalagadi sand with a blend mixture of flying ash, a by-product of coal and ordinary portland cement. In Kgatleng District, the KSBB project is located in Artesia, a poverty stricken village, situated 41km from Mochudi along the A1 road. The project, which is under Poverty Eradication Programme, started in June 2020 and has created employment for the locals who are mostly youth. The beneficiaries are currently using the sand soil from Rasesa. The sand is mixed with water and cement blend to make bricks which are hard and strong to use. The KSBB moulding machine, when operated optimally can produce a minimum of 600 blocks per day or 1200stock bricks per day. The bricks are sold at P6.00 per block and P2.00 for stock bricks.
