👁️‍🗨️𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠

Our Enforcement Officers, Sanitation Inspectors, and Park Rangers recently participated in a specialized Sight Guide Training workshop aimed at strengthening their ability to safely and effectively assist individuals with visual impairments.

The training, facilitated by BCVI, provided participants with practical techniques to better support people with visual impairments during encounters in public spaces. Highlights included guidance on appropriate communication and interaction, enhanced safety protocols for officers at traffic scenes, and interactive scenario-based exercises designed to build confidence and skills.

By equipping frontline personnel with these skills, we are enhancing the quality of service and support available to persons with visual impairments throughout Belize City.

Preparation is key to keeping our communities safe.

The Belize City Council's Shelter Management Team recently participated in Shelter Management Training facilitated by National Emergency Management Organization NEMO, strengthening the skills and knowledge needed to effectively support residents during emergencies.

This important training ensures that shelter managers are continuously equipped with the knowledge, skills, and understanding of their roles and responsibilities to effectively operate shelters in accordance with national standards.

As hurricane season approaches, we remain committed to preparedness, coordination, and ensuring our shelters are ready to serve when they are needed most.

The Belize City Council was pleased to participate in Itz’at STEAM Academy’s Open Day, where students explored future career opportunities and learned about the many professions that contribute to serving Belize City.

Our Human Resources Department and Public Health Unit enjoyed engaging with students and sharing how local government creates meaningful opportunities to make a difference in the community.

From rough roads to smooth concrete streets, Bel-Tex Crescent in Belama Phase 1 has officially been upgraded! 🙌🏾

Our team was on the ground to witness the transformation firsthand, and more importantly, to hear directly from residents who are already feeling the difference.

This wasn’t just a road fix, this was a full upgrade for the community:
✔️ New culverts
✔️ Safer driveways & walkways
✔️ Better access for families

As we enter the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season, the Belize City Council’s CEMO Unit continues to take proactive steps to strengthen the city’s preparedness and response efforts.

Chief Meteorologist Ronald Gordon visited City Hall and delivered an informative presentation on this year’s Hurricane Season Outlook, highlighting key forecasts, anticipated weather patterns, and potential impacts expected throughout the season.

City Administration, alongside members of the CEMO Sub-Committee, also participated in the meeting, reaffirming the Council’s commitment to disaster preparedness, public safety, and the protection of Belize City residents.

Through continued collaboration, planning, and awareness, the Belize City Council remains dedicated to building a more resilient city and ensuring that employees and residents are informed, prepared, and ready to respond.

Deputy Mayor Eluide Miller proudly delivered the Welcome Remarks at the Belize District National Festival of Arts 2026: Golden Showcase, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening at the Bliss Center.

In his address, he highlighted the incredible journey of our young performers, from months of preparation to earning their place on the golden stage, and reminded us all that the arts are more than performance… they are a foundation for confidence, discipline, and leadership, while also acknowledging the continued efforts of the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) in keeping this important tradition alive.

👏 He applauded the students, teachers, and families whose dedication continues to keep Belize’s cultural traditions alive and thriving, emphasizing that our children are not just performers, they are the future of Belize.

As Belize District shined through music, dance, drama, and poetry, the message was clear: our artistic expression is strong, our culture is vibrant, and our future is bright. ✨

The Belize City Council moved quickly to restore traffic lights at the intersection of Central American Boulevard and Vernon Street, after they were damaged and stolen.

🛠️Our teams acted without delay to ensure the safety and flow of traffic because keeping Belize City moving is our priority.

⚠️But this is bigger than replacement. City infrastructure belongs to all of us. When it is damaged or taken, it affects every driver, every pedestrian, every resident.

⚠️As we continue working to improve our city, we call on everyone to do their part:
respect public spaces, protect public property, and look out for Belize City.

This initiative empowers young people to design and lead impactful community projects, address issues affecting their peers, and drive positive change across Belize City. 💡🤝
