WHO’S LYING? ASHCROFT'S OFFICE OR HIS STATION?

A press release from Michael Ashcroft’s office issued a few days ago claimed, “Lord Ashcroft has no economic interest whatsoever in the Trust.” That’s the Waterloo Group Charitable Trust which he told us owns 77.5 percent of the shares in SpeedNet. But in a story posted on its News Website today, Ashcroft's own Greater Belize Television (Channel 5) referred to him as majority owner of SpeedNet. The post reads: “Prime Minister John Briceño has weighed in on Opposition Leader Tracy Panton’s recent meeting with Lord Michael Ashcroft, majority owner of SpeedNet.” We therefore have to ask: Who is lying, and who is telling the truth? Ashcroft’s Office or his Station?
