The Government of Belize is proudly participating in the 8th Assembly of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), taking place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from May 30 to June 6, 2026.
Representing our nation and driving crucial conversations on environmental financing are:
โข Mrs. Judene Tingling-Linares (GEF Operational Focal Point (Alt.), Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Solid Waste Management)
โข Mr. Leroy Martinez (GEF Political Focal Point & Director of the Climate Finance Unit, Ministry of Economic Transformation)
The Government of Belize is actively participating in the 8th Global Environment Facility (GEF) Assembly in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, to secure critical climate financing aligned with Plan Belize 2.0 and champion the needs of Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Representing the nation are Mrs. Judene Tingling-Linares and Mr. Leroy Martinez, alongside Mr. Jaren Serano, the first Belizean recipient of the prestigious Gustavo Fonseca Scholarship. Through high-level dialogues, the delegation continues to strengthen Belize's 30-year partnership with the GEF to build community resilience, protect natural resources, and empower the next generation of environmental leaders.
