Belize marked another important step in advancing climate accountability through the in-country review of its First Biennial Transparency Report (BTR1), submitted on December 31, 2024, under the Paris Agreementโs Enhanced Transparency Framework (Article 13).
Held from May 4-8, 2026, this significant process brought together national sector leads, the Technical Expert Review Team (TERT), technical experts, and key stakeholders to assess Belizeโs progress in climate reporting of its Biennial Transparency Report.
With support from the Regional Climate Action Hub for Transparency, the TERT, and technical guidance from Ms. Brittany Meighan, Regional Coordinator for the Anglophone Caribbean, the National Climate Change Office continues to strengthen national capacity, improve intersectoral coordination, and advance transparent, accountable, and effective climate action for Belize.
