The Corozal Town Council under Mayor Rigo Vellos stands on a proud record of work - delivering over 40 road paving projects that have improved the quality of life for our residents. From as far back as 2019, the effort began with the acquisition of machinery - a Motor Grader and Compactor Roller - that would elevate the capacity of the Council. That vision now becomes reality every time asphalt is spread on our streets!
Here is the first of a series of short documentaries that highlight the accomplishments of the Council under the dedicated and visionary leadership of Mayor Vellos.

Visiting students enchanted by the beauty of the bay
Standard 5 students of San Miguel R.C., Toledo District, were in Corozal Town today to support their fellow classmate competing in this year's National Spelling Bee competition.
While the students were excited for the competition, they also got excited by the beauty of our bay. As a special treat for the students, who had endured a 7-hour long bus ride to Corozal Town, Mayor Rigo Vellos hosted them to a special lunch at the enchanting Chactemal Bayside Plaza.
The students also spent time taking pictures of the Jadehead monument and trying out the hammock bridge.
The students returned home filled with excitement.

Mayor Rigo applauds frontline workers at Public service Information Day
Chactemal Plaza was abuzz on Thursday, May 28 as special display booths were on display, highlighting the work of various public service departments, as part of this year's Public Service Week celebration.

Also present were Deputy Mayor Marleni Tapia and Councillors
The celebration of public service will continue with community outreach activities, national health walk, an award and entertainment week and appreciation day.

On behalf of Mayor Rigo Vellos, the Corozal Town Council, and the entire community of Corozal, we extend our deepest condolences to the Marin & Sawers family.
We mourn the passing of Mrs. Daisy Olga Marin Sawers, a legendary figure whose lifelong service and leadership left an indelible mark on our town. As one of Corozal’s first female mayors and a dedicated member of numerous organizations, including the Hospital Auxiliary Group, her legacy of hard work, compassion, and commitment to uplifting others will never be forgotten.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.

In service to the community - Mayor Rigo Vellos & Councillors lead the way!
Motivated by their commitment to the residents of Corozal Town, Mayor Rigo Vellos, Deputy Mayoress Marleni Tapia and Councillors carry out special initiatives and community work to improve the town.
It doesn't matter which day of the week it is, the Mayor and Councillors are ready to work. They are joined by the Marshalls District Rep. Mr. Josue Perez, and other members of the community.
This past Saturday, the team worked on the Victoriano Gongora Park in the Altamira Area to transform a newly installed play set with bright colours. The playset will have swings installed this week to make it fully operational for the children of the area.
This is just one initiative done to improve our town. Streets are paved. Drains are maintained. Traffic signs upgraded. Parks and public spaced cleaned up. Just some of the many things done by the Council for the people.
