ALS took him off the truck — firefighters stayed beside him.

After 22 years in the fire service, Kimball Yorston can no longer perform operational firefighting duties because of ALS. He continues working in fire prevention in Chestermere.

"And I had to find a new reality for that," he said.

As firefighters from Rocky View County and Airdrie's Matt Elgie joined an ice bucket challenge supporting the ALS Society of Alberta in his honour, the videos became something his children regularly watched and his wife shared.
