In the interests of transparency and to pre-empt the tantrums that will ensue, we would like to announce that we have had to ban two people from this page. Warren Grange for ongoing irrelevant posts against a candidate and Tim Gray for disrespectful, relentless, and often incorrect posts against multiple candidates.
WE are going to reiterate, this page is for learning about candidates, promoting your preferred candidate and getting election related info. If you don't like a candidate just scroll on by the posts about them. If you like a candidate say why, point out their good attributes. We will delete conjecture and disrespect and if we have to continuously remind you - we'll block you. Nobody has time for this childishness.

"AMHERSTBURG HAS A PLAN. NOW WE NEED THE LEADERSHIP TO DELIVER IT.
Amherstburg’s Strategic Plan has a simple but powerful vision:
“Preserving our past while forging our future.”
I believe that should be our foundation for the next four years.
Our Strategic Plan identifies four priorities that I believe are absolutely critical to Amherstburg’s future:
- Responsible, accountable government
- Investment in roads, infrastructure and community amenities
- A stronger local economy and support for local businesses
- Growth that respects Amherstburg’s character and identity
I agree with those priorities.
But a strategic plan only matters if we actually deliver on it.
As your Deputy Mayor, I’ve been part of the work to move Amherstburg forward. As your next Mayor, I want to take that work to the next level.
That means being financially responsible with your tax dollars.
That means fixing and maintaining our core infrastructure.
That means supporting the businesses that create jobs and make our community vibrant.
That means preparing for growth instead of being afraid of it.
And it means protecting the history, character and small-town qualities that make Amherstburg special.
I don’t believe Amherstburg has to choose between protecting what we love and building for the future. We can — and we must — do both.
I’m running for Mayor because I believe Amherstburg is entering one of the most important chapters in our history.
We need decisive leadership.
We need collaboration, not division.
We need a Council that can make tough decisions.
And we need a clear vision for where we are going.
Our past matters. Our future matters. And it’s time to get both right.
That’s why I’m asking Amherstburg to put its trust in me as your next Mayor."

"Voting is one of the most important ways to support your community. In case you want to vote and wondering if you have the correct paperwork, I thought I would share the long list of acceptable documents for voter identification. See the Ontario link provided.
Remember, every vote matters.
The last day to register or update your voter information online for the October 26 Ontario municipal election was August 12, but you can still register or update your information. This is especially important if you have recently moved to Amherstburg.
Questions about your eligibility or other contact: [email protected] or 519-736-0012.
https://www.amherstburg.ca/.../elections/voter-information
In Ontario, you are eligible to vote in the election for municipal council if you meet all of the following requirements and are registered:
• you are a Canadian citizen
• you are aged 18 or older
• you qualify to vote in the municipality
There are three ways that you can qualify to vote in a municipality:
1. As a resident elector if you live in the municipality. You may own, rent, live in shared accommodation where you do not pay rent or live in the municipality but do not have a fixed address.
2. As a non-resident elector if you own or rent property in a municipality, but it’s not the one where you live. While you can be a resident elector in only one municipality (with the exception of students), you can be a non-resident elector in any other municipality (or municipalities) where you own or rent property.
3. As the spouse of a non-resident elector if your spouse owns or rents property in the municipality or municipalities other than the one where you live.
If you are homeless, do not have a permanent home or a fixed address, you can vote in the area where you slept in the 5 weeks before the election

A question for candidates - The City of Hamilton suffered a major ransomware attack on February 25, 2024, that disabled roughly 80% of the municipal network and impacted numerous public services.

It is estimated to have cost the municipality just over $18 million dollars to recover and rebuild all that was lost.

The municipalities insurance would not cover the loss because the city had not fully implemented multi-factor authentication into their system. Therefore the entire cost will be born by taxpayers.
If elected will you advocate for up-to-date, fully staffed IT departments that stay on top of all of the latest developments in technology - even if it means more staff or a tax increase?

This is for candidates to comment, residents may ask questions of the candidates post for clarification purposes but any disparaging, insulting or irrelevant comments will be removed.

Full disclosure - we could not tag Jen DeLuca as she does not have FB candidate pages. Some candidates will be tagged in the first comment due to FB limitations.
