Over the next few weeks, schools will be sharing the results of the recent Alberta Education Grade 1 to 5 Literacy and Numeracy Screeners. These provincial assessments help teachers identify foundational skills to ensure every student has the right level of classroom support.

You will receive a paper copy of your child's screener results. The results will clearly point out areas in reading or mathematics where your child is doing well, as well as any areas where they require additional support. If the results show that your child would benefit from additional support, the package will also detail the specific type of intervention (small group instruction or one-to-one instruction) they will receive at school to bridge those gaps.

Please look out for these results based on your child's grade level:

Grades 1-3: Results will be sent home for your review by October 30th, 2026.
Grades 4 and 5: Results will be sent home by November 6th, 2026.

If you have any questions once you receive the paper results, please feel free to reach out to your child's classroom teacher. For more detailed information regarding the literacy and numeracy screeners please visit https://www.aspenview.org/for-students-parents/alberta-education-literacy-numeracy-screeners

To help keep families informed about their child’s academic progress, schools will be sending home paper copies of Interim Reports throughout the school year. The first interim report will be sent home by the end of October.

Interim reports provide a summary of your child’s academic progress to date, based on completed summative assessments (assignments, tests and other work used to evaluate student learning). These reports are also a useful reference when meeting with teachers during Parent-Teacher Conferences.

You can also monitor your child’s academic progress through PowerSchool Parent Portal, our online student information system. Parent Portal provides up-to-date information on your child’s marks and attendance, as well as access to school events and news.

We strongly encourage all families to set up a PowerSchool Parent Portal account if they have not already done so. If you need assistance creating or accessing your account, please contact the school.

If you have any questions about your child’s interim report or academic progress, please contact your child’s teacher.

A reminder to all Aspen View families that there is no school for students on Monday, October 19, as it is a school-based Professional Learning Day.

As this date was added to the school calendar through an amendment approved in June 2026, we want to ensure families are aware of the change.

Classes resume for students on Tuesday, October 20.
