Applications are now open for the 2027 Brampton Writer in Residence!

The residency will run for twelve weeks (February 1 - April 25) and offer both $4,500 in funding and a free, dedicated workspace at the Brampton Library, Mount Pleasant Village Branch.

The residency is open to all GTA-based professional writers who have published a minimum of one adult or young adult book-length work, fiction or non-fiction, within the last five years. We will not be considering poetry and children’s literature at this time.

A key part of the residency is community involvement. The selected writer will be expected to develop and offer two workshops to the general public and hold regular office hours to work one-on-one with emerging local writers. A commitment of 120 hours to these activities is expected over the twelve weeks.
