The Adult Recreation Therapy Centre (ARTC) was the beneficiary of a special community fundraising breakfast hosted by the Knights of Columbus on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Knights Hall in Brantford.

Community members gathered from 9 a.m. to noon to enjoy a hearty, all-you-can-eat breakfast featuring scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, pancakes, toast, juice, tea and coffee. ARTC raised $3500 from the event. We would like to thank the Knights of Columbus for hosting us!

On September 16th, clients and staff participated in an At-Home Grand Parade Walk. Everyone had the opportunity to walk together, socialize, and enjoy some physical activity.

After the walk, snacks and refreshments were served. Staff also led a trivia activity about the Grand River Council on Aging and senior resources available in the Brantford community.

We would like to thank everyone who generously donated to this intiative. Your kindness and support are greatly appreciated.

One of the benefits of attending an adult day program is the opportunity to take part in outings. In 2013, ARTC clients and staff enjoyed a memorable trip to Niagara Falls. Everyone had a great time enjoying the beautiful views, taking pictures, laughing, and spending time together.

This December will mark 14 years since my stroke, and I have had to learn to love myself all over again. What I am going through is not always visible, and it has not always been easy, but here I am. ❤️

Living with stroke and aphasia has brought embarrassing, frustrating, lonely, and sometimes even hilarious moments. I am still learning every day. I have aphasia homework and Zoom sessions four times a week, and I am putting in the work.

It is a journey, but I know I am not alone. I want to keep talking about aphasia, supporting others, and reminding people that we can get through this—together. 💜

Love, Rosa
