Step away from the day-to-day and think about what your community needs to weather a disruption.

Join EDA in beautiful Canmore on Tuesday, Oct. 27 for "How Resilient Is Your Community?", a FREE, in-person and interactive economic resilience workshop.

The mountain setting offers a chance to pause, connect with colleagues, and consider an important question: If a significant disruption happened tomorrow, how ready would your community really be?

Through practical scenarios and conversation, explore your role, gaps in preparedness, and relationships worth building before a crisis.

Learn from the experts: Leann Hackman-Carty, Lynn A. Knight, Eleanor Miclette, Angela Groeneveld, and Trevor Lewington, who bring experience supporting communities through disruption and recovery.

It’s an excellent day of in-person learning focused on helping elected officials better understand their role in economic development and how the decisions they make can help create the conditions for strong, resilient communities.

At EDA, we believe economic development is a team sport and when elected officials understand the fundamentals of economic development, they’re better equipped to work alongside economic development professionals, ask the right questions, support sound strategies and champion opportunities in their communities.

Today, EDA is recognizing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

As economic developers and community builders, we understand the importance of strong, respectful relationships and inclusive communities.

Today is an opportunity to reflect, listen and learn, while honouring the Survivors of residential schools, remembering the children who never returned home, and recognizing the families and communities who continue to be impacted.

We encourage our members and partners to take time today to reflect on the meaning of truth and reconciliation and the role we can all play in building stronger communities across Alberta.

What a day at the EDA Invitational!

The second annual EDA Invitational Golf Tournament brought together economic developers, community leaders and businesses from across Alberta for a fantastic afternoon of golf and plenty of opportunities to connect at the Broadmoor Golf Course.

And it was a great turnout!

New this year was our Fairway Partner Village, showcasing Made-in-Alberta businesses before golfers headed out on the course.

We were thrilled with the response and couldn’t have asked for a better launch for this new addition to the EDA Invitational. Thank you to the businesses who took part!

A huge thank you to everyone who made the day possible, including our many volunters; title sponsor Invest Alberta; dinner sponsor Strathcona County, and hole sponsors Lamont County, FortisAlberta. Thanks to the University of Alberta Career Centre for joining us and thank you to the team at The Broadmoor Golf Course !

Join us September 24 at The Broadmoor Golf Course in Sherwood Park for a relaxed 9-hole Texas Scramble, dinner, and an afternoon connecting with Alberta’s economic development and business community.

As you know, some of the best conversations happen on the golf course.

That’s what the EDA Invitational Golf Tournament is really about, an afternoon where you can catch up with your colleagues, meet someone new, and have the kind of conversations that don’t always happen when everyone is rushing between meetings.

And there will be activities along the way!

Prairies Economic Development Canada staff are adding a little friendly competition by overseeing a "Beat the Amateur" challenge on the course!

Add in the Fairway Partner Village, a relaxed 9-hole Texas Scramble and dinner, there are lots of opportunities to connect throughout the afternoon.
