Alberta's energy sector continues to grow. The AER’s 2026 Alberta Energy Outlook (ST98) shows oil and gas production reached record levels in 2025, supported by expanded pipeline capacity. Natural gas prices are on the rise, and producers are investing in Alberta's most productive areas.

• Crude oil production: 4.4 million bbl/d
• Natural gas production: 11.5 Bcf/d
• AECO-C price forecast to nearly double by 2035.

Through an agreement with the Western Regulators Forum, Albertans and the energy industry can access CSA Technical Standards at no cost. These standards are referenced in many AER directives and used to safely regulate oil, gas, and pipelines operations throughout Canada.
