“Even though many newcomers cannot vote, they’re certainly paying attention... We are eagerly anticipating what the outcome is going to be and want to work with the government to help understand what this might look like going forward,” says CFN CEO Nketti Johnston-Taylor when speaking to CityNews about the upcoming referendum.

A night out on the town in 1959 YYC 🌃, 8th Avenue looking west. The Capitol Theatre is glowing 🎭, “The Bay” takes up some of the skyline 🏙️, TIP TOP Tailors is in neon ✨, classic cars are parked right on the avenue 🚗, and everybody is dressed up just to go for a walk downtown 👗🕺. This was Stephen Avenue before it became a pedestrian mall — loud, bright, a little gritty, and full of promise.

It’s easy to be nostalgic for the glow in this photo ✨. It was magical. But the heart of it hasn’t changed — Calgary still dresses up to go downtown. We still meet friends under lights on 8th 💡. We still look up at big signs and wonder what’s next 🌟.

The city grew up, but it didn’t move on. It just brought that same night-out energy with it 🌆

CFN's amazing Settlement Team traded desks for fresh air, autumn leaves, and a beautiful fall day 🍂 A day of teamwork, laughter, and fun brought us even closer together—and reminded us that after all the hard work, making time to connect matters too. Way to go, team! Here’s to supporting newcomers, supporting each other, and bringing that same energy to everything we do 🙌💙
