Seniors’ Week starts tomorrow, and it’s a great excuse to make a little time for the people who’ve been showing up for everyone else their whole lives.
From June 1–7, Calgary has a bunch of free and low-cost events happening through community spaces and local organizations.
If you’ve been meaning to get out with a parent, grandparent, neighbour, or older friend, this is your easy “let’s actually do it” moment.
Where to look:
• City of Calgary Seniors’ Week events
• Unison at Kerby Centre (their Seniors’ Week schedule is usually packed)
• Alberta Seniors’ Week hub for province-wide info
Small plan, big payoff: pick one event and make it meaningful moment.

Mother’s Day isn’t always simple.
For some, it’s joyful. For others, it can feel tender, complicated, heavy, or bittersweet. And for many, it can be all of those things at once.
Today, we’re sending love to everyone moving through this day in their own way.
Happy Mother’s Day. 💙

We asked our The YYC Dementia Support Group one question: “What’s one thing about dementia you wish more people understood?”
And the responses were honest, eye-opening, and deeply human.
If you’re supporting someone living with dementia, these are the kinds of reminders that can make you feel less alone. If you’re here to learn, let this be a starting point for more understanding and more compassion.
Want to be part of these conversations?
Check out the Dementia Support Group for support, community, and ideas from those who get it.

Leaving a gift in your will is one of the most meaningful ways to support your community long-term.
A legacy gift helps ensure Alzheimer Calgary can continue to be here for families impacted by dementia, with support that’s steady, local, and available when it’s needed most.
It’s a powerful way to help shape a future where people impacted by dementia are valued, supported, and never left to navigate alone.
A few simple ways to include Alzheimer Calgary in your will:
• A specific gift (a set amount)
• A residual gift (a percentage of your estate)
• A gift-in-kind (property, artwork, shares, etc.)
And if you already have a will, you may be able to add a gift without rewriting the whole document (ask your lawyer about a codicil).
If you’d like to explore what this could look like, or you have questions, we’re here.
