FascinAsian Film Festival - Edmonton is happening next month from May 12-16 and we're so excited to be a part of it!

Join AMAAS on Friday May 15, 6 p.m., at the Landmark Cinemas 9 Edmonton City Centre for a FREE Industry Panel Discussion: Off the Beaten Filmmaker's Path!

This free event is an open, candid industry conversation that centres non‑traditional routes into filmmaking: careers that began through community storytelling, self-funded projects, online platforms, adjacent creative industries, cultural work, activism, or learning-by-doing outside film school and legacy systems. This panel invites local filmmakers to share how they built momentum without waiting for permission—how they found collaborators, sustained themselves financially, navigated gatekeeping, and defined success on their own terms. Panelists will speak honestly about detours, setbacks, hybrid careers, and the creative strategies that helped them survive and thrive in an industry not designed with them in mind. Whether you’re emerging, mid-career, or redefining your relationship to film, this conversation aims to validate alternative journeys and spark new ideas for forging a path that reflects who you are, where you come from, and how you want to create.

Panelists: Joselito II De Los Angeles, Omar Mouallem, Anne Mueller
Moderator: Vicki Van Chau
Co-presented by Alberta Media Arts Alliance Society
Co-sponsor: Alberta Media Production Industries Association

We had an amazing weekend attending the 23rd edition of . There are still 5 days of the 11 day festival left to check out! Located . Congratulations on another amazing festival and we look forward to CUFF.Docs coming up in Nov.

I heard that both screenings of The History of Concrete sold out awhile ago, but there is still the concrete inspired softserve to experience!

I made sure to check out the 2026 CUFFcade in the moments before screenings and my many visits to the concession🍿 🍫

It was so fun bumping into some members of the Klee team after the screening, thank you for the chat and the photo together. I had been wanting and waiting to see Klee ever since actor, graphic designer and fellow AUArts alum posted about her involvement with the project more than a year ago!

Incase you haven't heard about the film:

KLEE follows an alien who is sent to earth and tasked with a mission to invade, seduce, and terminate a family of colonizers in 19th century Saskatchewan.

Thanks festival team for the beautiful opening ceremony - great catching up with , dancing to .daniels.music and , enjoying the stew and bannock, and much more.

The program is incredible and showcases Indigenous Animations, Documentaries, and Shorts from around the world.

We watched the doc .puna.ora.film following three exceptional Tahitian women who unite to protect their cherished beach from privatization, determined to prevent their island from facing the same challenges as Tahiti.

You can catch this important film and many other as the festival continues with virtual screenings and workshops April 20-26!
