Addiction fu***ng sucks!

I’m sitting here watching Beautiful Boy with tears rolling down my face and I can’t help but think about how many people I’ve lost to this epidemic. I think about all the people still struggling and I pray for them, for their families, and their children.

Then I think how I am so fortunate to have been one of the “lucky ones” to have a complete psychic change, and understanding to this disease, to have zero desire to use again.

Addiction is tearing families apart.

This trip back home has brought up some memories. Taking me back to my old bedroom- where I once hid my addiction until morning hours, and no one would know.

I was partying with my at then boyfriend and all my old skool homies, and “Ya heard me, Jam” was one of my favourite sayings. I don’t even know what it truly meant 😅 Here, you can see I tried tagging it on my bedroom door🚪 and apparently it didn’t come off when my parents painted over it after I moved out lol 😬

Coming back here five years sober has so much more meaning. I made it to another year sober and I’ve lost very important people along my journey of recovery. People are still alive, but struggling, and people I loved have passed on and I never got to say goodbye 😢

Addiction doesn’t discriminate- it takes you to places you never thought you’d go. If you’re still struggling, please reach out! As my old sayin would have it- “ Ya heard me?! Jammmmmm!!” 😅
