Neither can the next driver.

👀 Can you see Coltan and Hayden?

Neither can the next driver.

Double parking can force children to walk between vehicles or farther into the roadway where drivers may not expect them.

Before you stop or park near a school, look at what your vehicle could block. 🚸

A vehicle stopped too close to a crosswalk or corner can hide a child from an approaching driver. It can also prevent the child from seeing traffic before stepping into the street.

Keep crossings, corners and other important sightlines clear. If the nearest space is not safe or legal, choose another place and walk a little farther.

One parking decision can help everyone see what matters.

School drop-off and pick-up can get busy quickly. A line of vehicles, a rushed stop or a car parked too close to the school can make it harder for children and drivers to see one another. 🚸

This fall, Calgary Parking’s Parking Safety and Compliance Officers are supporting safer school zones by speaking with drivers and families, answering questions and helping keep crossings, corners and other important sightlines clear.

Give yourself enough time to find a safe, legal place to park. Walking a little farther can reduce congestion near the school and help children arrive more safely.

Their lives are in your hands from the moment you park.

🚸🅿️ Park smart near schools. Kids deserve to get to and from school safely. Their lives are in your hands.

Calgary Parking's School Patrol officers are out in school zones this month, helping educate drivers and keep drop-off and pick-up areas safe.

✅ Park at least 5 m back from crosswalks and corners
✅ Keep bus zones clear
✅ No double parking, it blocks sightlines and puts kids at risk
✅ If it's busy, park further away and walk in

Small choices make a big difference. Thanks for doing your part.
