The U.S. Foreign Commercial Service in Calgary joined experts from Canada and Mexico this morning at the Calgary Public Library for "APEX Forum: Cross-Border Ready."

They shared practical insights on trade, law, and governance in an effort to help business owners grow their companies internationally and adopt super intelligence, while also protecting their intellectual property.

We were grateful to learn from the other panelists, and to Fasken, Consulado de México en Calgary/ Consulate of Mexico in Calgary, and Catapult Startups for a great event!

Policymakers, advocates, and industry leaders from around the world visited the National Music Centre | Centre National de Musique this week for the Alberta Music Cities Convention, where they learned from international experts about how cities can establish thriving music economies.

We were proud to work with the Meridian International Center to help bring two distinguished American speakers, Elizabeth Cawein of Music Export Memphis and Matt Mandrella of the Huntsville Music Office, to Calgary for the conference.

They presented on the unique music economies in Memphis and Huntsville, where music is valued as both entertainment and vital economic infrastructure, and how Calgary can transform its rich musical heritage into a pillar of economic growth.

On the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, we reflect upon the enduring strength of the American spirit and remember the 2,977 people who lost their lives.

Among those who died were more than 400 first responders, including 23 police officers, 37 Port Authority workers, and 343 firefighters.

To honor those who rushed to rescue victims at Ground Zero, this year we recognized—and shared a moment of silence with—our partners at local agencies such as the RCMP, Canada Border Services Agency, and Calgary Police Service.

Directly or indirectly, agencies like these are part of an important legacy: 9/11 prompted a quarter-century of close collaboration between American and Canadian law enforcement to strengthen our borders, gather and share intelligence, and help keep people safe from threats of violence and terrorism, at home and abroad.
