Recognizing there is enough negativity on social media already, we aim to foster a safe and open community across social media platforms and protect social media users from inappropriate and harmful discourse. We have created a Code of Conduct for Social Media Platforms to help keep a respectful online environment. There are real people behind screens and keyboards monitoring the Town of Canmore social media accounts and everyone deserves to be treated respectfully. Read the Code of Conduct here: https://canmore.ca/town-hall/the-civility-project/community-code-of-conduct-for-social-media-platforms

Town of Canmore social media accounts are not used to collect public input or feedback on initiatives, although social media may be used to promote opportunities to provide feedback. Questions or feedback to Council should be provided through one of the options on https://canmore.ca/town-hall/town-council/connect-with-council and not through our social media accounts. Reports of issues with roads, power, water, or infrastructure, should be made through https://canmore.ca/town-hall/contact-the-town-of-canmore and not through social media. Town of Canmore may participate in online community group discussions to provide clarity, correct misinformation, and to interact with Canmore residents. The communications department will read comments and participate in discussions when appropriate. We are a community that desires well-being for all individuals. We want to reconcile the past and build new relationships for the future. The Town of Canmore is located within Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta. In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge the Canmore area, known as “Chuwapchipchiyan Kudi Bi” (translated in Stoney Nakoda as “shooting at the willows”) and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Îyârhe Nakoda (Stoney Nakoda) – comprised of the Bearspaw First Nation, Chiniki First Nation, and Wesley First Nation – as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation and the Blackfoot Confederacy comprised of the Siksika, Piikani, Kainai. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3, within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. We acknowledge all Nations who live, work, and play and help us steward this land and honour and celebrate this territory. We commit to working to live in right relations and to advance Truth and Reconciliation.

You *could* get all the information about the fireguard in the Peaks of Grassi area from your neighbour, Bob, but remember when he told you that bear spray was an effective way of getting rid of ants?

Maybe you should just come and learn about the fireguard from the people planning and building it.

Join us for an informal, drop-in information session on Thursday, Oct. 29 at the Bill Warren Training Centre (at the Canmore Nordic Centre) from 5 - 7:30 p.m. Members of the project team will be available to answer your questions about the Bow Valley Community Fireguard, the construction schedule, trail closures, timelines, and more.

We'll have some food available, and the bar will be open for drinks to purchase.

Can't make it? Learn more about the fireguard at canmore.ca/fireguard
