Small Business Week continues, and we’re shining a spotlight on some of our local small businesses and the people behind them.

Meet Ashley, owner-operator of Chasin’ Turkeys Bowling ! 🎳

A bit of history: Ashley picked up the torch from Mike Sears of the former Visions Bowling Centre in 2018, refreshing the space while keeping all the charm and nostalgia of its 1950s roots. A little retro, a lot of fun, and a downtown classic!

Whether it’s a special event (hint hint - Christmas party), a birthday party, joining a league, or just an excuse to have some fun with friends and family, Chasin’ Turkeys is an iconic Carleton Place experience. If you haven’t tried 5-pin bowling here yet, consider this your invite!

Veterans banners are now on display throughout downtown Carleton Place as we approach Remembrance Day.

This annual project is a collaboration between the Town of Carleton Place and the Captain A. Roy Brown Legion Branch 192, honouring local veterans who served and sacrificed for our country.

A heartfelt thank you to the Recreation and Culture Department for their hard work in bringing these banners to our downtown streets each year, helping keep the stories and sacrifices of our local veterans visible in our community.

This year is especially meaningful as the Royal Canadian Legion celebrates its 100th anniversary, marking a century of service, remembrance, and community tradition.

On Wednesday, November 11, our community will gather at the Cenotaph in Veterans Memorial Park to honour those who have served and those who continue to serve. The ceremony begins at 10:50 a.m., with the parade forming at 10:20 a.m. on Mill Street beside Town Hall.

As you walk downtown and see these banners, take a moment to reflect on the individuals behind the names and the sacrifices they represent.

We will remember them.
