With significant snowfall expected in the coming days, the Consort and Coronation RCMP are reminding motorists to prepare for changing road conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly.

Before you head out:
✅ Check weather and road conditions
⚠️ Slow down and leave extra space between vehicles
✅ Clear all snow and ice from your vehicle
⚠️ Make sure your vehicle is winter-ready
✅ Carry a winter emergency kit
⚠️ Let someone know your travel plans if travelling longer distances

Winter weather can reduce visibility and increase stopping distances. A little preparation can help keep you, your passengers and other road users safe. Drive according to conditions, allow extra time to reach your destination and remember: no trip is worth risking your safety.

As the days get shorter this fall, take a few simple steps to keep your home safe.

✅ Keep entryways well-lit, lock doors and windows, and trim back bushes or trees that could hide intruders.

A few proactive steps can make your property less attractive to crime.

Fall is a busy time for wildlife. Animals are more active as they prepare for winter and may be near roads looking for food. 👀 Please stay alert, especially on rural highways at dawn and dusk, and reduce your speed where wildlife crossing signs are posted.
