Why we do what we do- It's More Than a Ride! 🚐

At Community Wheels, we know that transportation is about more than simply getting from one place to another.

🩺It's about getting to an important medical appointment.
🛒Picking up groceries.
💼 Getting to work or school.
🤝 Attending a community program.
☕Meeting a friend for coffee.
👨‍👩‍👦 Visiting family.
❤️ Staying independent and connected.

For some of our riders, having reliable transportation means being able to continue doing the things they enjoy and participating in the community they call home.

That's why we do what we do.

We're proud to provide safe, affordable, and accessible transportation to residents throughout the Municipality of the District of Chester.

Thank you to our riders, drivers, staff, volunteers, funders, donors, and community partners for helping us keep our community connected. 💙

What Does a Ride with Community Wheels Cost?💰🚐

We often get questions about our fares, so here's a quick breakdown!

📍 Rides within the Municipality of the District of Chester

Community Wheels operates on a pay-what-you-can model, with a suggested fare of $25 for the round trip.

📍 Trips outside the MODC

For trips that originate within the Municipality but travel outside the MODC (such as to Halifax, Bridgewater, etc.), the suggested minimum fare is $50 for the round trip.

💙 If the suggested fare is a barrier, we don't want that to prevent you from accessing transportation. Our Fare Assistance Program may be able to reduce the suggested fare by up to 50%, depending on eligibility.

♿ Support persons travel free.

Our goal is to make transportation as accessible as possible while helping us cover the costs of keeping our vehicles, drivers, and service on the road.

COMMUNITY WHEELS IS CLOSED – NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION 🧡

On Wednesday, September 30, Community Wheels is closed in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

There are no Community Wheels rides or office service on Wednesday, September 30.

This day is an opportunity to remember the children who never returned home from residential schools, honour Survivors and their families and communities, and reflect on the ongoing work of reconciliation. It is also Orange Shirt Day, when communities across Canada wear orange to honour the children and recognize that Every Child Matters. 🧡

Our regular service will resume on Thursday, October 1.
