Here is a little compilation of our 2026 Pumpkin Party! Thank you again to Aidie Creek Gardens for the pumpkin and to JR Seasonal Services for your help getting it into Enclosure B!

While pumpkins are not a natural part of a polar bears’ diet and generally provides no nutritional value for them, it can help them feel full without gaining much weight! Since it is so large and we are unable to move it ourselves at this point, the pumpkin provides great enrichment and allows for Ganuk and Henry to eat as much or as little and whenever they want!

Polar Bear Week is just around the corner, taking place from November 1st - 7th. We are excited to share our events for the week, we hope to see you there whether you join us virtually or in person!

This special week, brought to life by Polar Bears International, occurs during the first week of November each year, perfectly timed with the migration and gathering of polar bears along the Hudson Bay coast. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn more about polar bears, find inspiration, and contribute to efforts aimed at protecting them.

Huge huge thank you to Aidie Creek Gardens for donating the 1700 lb pumpkin this season. Ganuk got the pumpkin first this year, and has already left a pretty hefty hole where the soft spot used to be! Henry will be getting his turn with it in the coming days, so stay tuned for more!

The Polar Bear Habitat is asking for community support with the housing of post-secondary students taking part in our Animal Care Placement Program. This program provides valuable workplace experience for students completing studies in the animal science and veterinary fields, but is reliant upon the availability of affordable housing. We are looking to connect with members of our community who may have a room or apartment in their home to rent on a monthly basis. Most students complete the program in four weeks, but some may stay up to 6 months.

If you would like to offer your support or to learn more, please contact us at 705 272 2327 or [email protected].

Happy Thanksgiving weekend! We will be OPEN from 9 am to 5 pm for the long weekend. On Tuesday October 13th, we will be moving into our winter hours from 10am - 4pm, 7 days a week.

Autumn into early winter is a great time to visit us. With the cooler weather, the bears are starting to become more active. For those who visit or watch online, you may see the bears playing with their enrichment items more often or simply spending more time outdoors in general!

For more details on how to visit or contact us, please see our website.
