Hi Everyone,
Sorry for the delay in getting it out. It's been a busy couple of weeks. You will notice a few new things on the calendar. The first thing to take note of is that there is no programing this Thursday, October 1st as I have tacked my vacation on to the end of our Oasis conference and am winding my way home slowly through 3 provinces.
There are a lot of changes happening in this calendar. The first is that we have added a second afternoon of programming to be held on Tuesday afternoons in the Cole Harbour Library Program room space where we had our summer programming. We will be in there from 1pm til 3:30 to give us a bit of extra time together. That being said we can go through the weeks.
October 6th we are in the Library program room for board games and cards at 1PM. I know there are folks wanting to play bridge, so lets get you together. On October 8th you may notice we are starting our exercise a bit later. It was requested that we have a few extra minutes to get settled and say hi to our neighbours before diving in, so we will be starting at 10:15 with chair exercise. At 11:00 we will be having a presentation by our Cole Harbour Neighbour, Michel from Tech Mania on internet safety and some of the issues folks have with their devices. He will be set up until 1pm for any general questions you may have.
At 1pm we will share travel tales. If you have photos (10 Max) you would like to share on screen send them along and I can have them ready to share.
On October 13th we are in the Library at 1pm for book club. We are reading Death and Other Inconveniences by Lesley Crewe. There are several copies available at the library to borrow. On the 15th there is no programming as I am at a conference (last one for the year).
On the 20th Art and Soul is rejoining us and they are bringing the wet felting backgrounds that were done in the spring to be completed. Each session can accommodate 15 people, sign up will be required. It is being done over a 4 week period and I ask you sign up for one of the 4 weeks to give folks a chance to participate. If you are interested, let me know and I can sign you up.
On October 22nd we will start the day at 10:15 with Chair Pilates, followed by our Neighbour from Blyss Grocery Delivery to do a short presentation about his business. Again he will be on site until 1pm for any questions. At 1pm our friends from Community Health Teams will be back to present "Making the Most of your Food Dollar".
In our Final Week of October we will be in the Library on the 27th to continue our Wet Felting Community Project with Art & Soul at 1pm. On the 29th we will start the day a bit different again. At 10:15 we will have a 30 minute Standing Exercise session followed at 10:50 with a Seated exercise. I trust you all to know your abilities. At 11:45 we are going to have a speed friending round as we have a lot of new members to integrate into our friend circle. Its a quick, silly way to get to know one another a bit better. Then we will have a quick lunch before Erika from the Emergency Management Organization comes to speak about preparedness.
As always, Brittney from Happy at Home will be with us on Thursdays from 10 - 3. She can answer questions on many seniors issues and is also available for form filling if you need help with any of the current Provincial programs.
I know that was a lot, there is more but I will send out a couple more emails when I get home regarding volunteering and our Expo that is happening in November.
