Municipality of Crowsnest Pass The Municipality of Crowsnest Pass is tucked into the southwest corner of Alberta in the beautiful Rocky Mountains ii. iii. iv. v. vi.

The Crowsnest Pass is Canada's southerly traveled corridor of the Rocky Mountains and is historically known for its scenic land of forests and peaks. At an elevation of 1358 meters (4453 feet), the Crowsnest Pass summit forms the Alberta - British Columbia border. At this continental divide, North America's water systems flow in opposite directions: to the East the Crowsnest River carries water toward Hudson's Bay while water flows west toward the Pacific Ocean. Carving passes through Canada's Rocky Mountains many years ago, these water systems were not illustrated on many maps until the Palliser Expedition in 1860. Michael Phillips was the first white man to cross the Canadian Rockies from the West to East when he blazed a trail in 1873 through an unexplored area. Today, his work is known as the Crowsnest Pass. Darker drives and icy roads mean we all need to look out for each other. Slow down, watch for people walking, and take bulky coats off before buckling kids into car seats.

And with snow making it's way to the ground ❄️, please clear the sidewalk by your home so everyone can get around safely. Full details in our newsletter or at crowsnestpass.com.

🎃 Happy Halloween!

Let's help every trick-or-treater get home safe. Drivers, slow down in neighbourhoods and watch for kids between parked cars. Families, bring a flashlight and add something reflective to costumes. Homeowners, turn on your porch light and clear your walkways if needed. 🦌

After the fun, put pumpkins away so they don't attract wildlife or drop them off at Flumerfelt park November 1 to participate in the annual Pumpkins in the Park event.

Good news for your weekend: there’s no need to change your clocks! ⏰

On Sunday, November 1, 2026, Alberta moves to permanent Alberta Time (ABT). Our clocks will stay where they are all year.

Most phones, computers and vehicles should update on their own. If a device shows the wrong time after November 1, check for software updates. Make sure automatic date and time is turned on. Older devices may need a manual change.

The Municipality has just been notified that Recycling collection in Hillcrest is cancelled for some properties for the rest of today, Thursday, October 29, 2026. Icy roads and impassable alleys make it unsafe for crews to continue on Hillcrest’s hills and slopes.

Your pickup will happen Monday, November 2, and residents whose carts were not serviced are being asked to leave them out by 7:00 a.m.. Thank you for your patience as they keep crews safe.

It’s important for drivers to stay prepared for safe travels on Alberta’s icy roads this winter. If you’re heading out, here are some essential tips to keep in mind:

- Before you leave the house, plan your route. Check road conditions and weather forecasts and always let someone know your travel plans.
- In winter conditions, it’s best to maintain full control of your vehicle, especially on slippery roads, so avoid using cruise control.
- Maintaining a full tank of gas can help prevent your fuel lines from freezing and ensures you have enough fuel in case of delays or emergencies.
- Turn on your headlights in low visibility conditions, even during the day, to increase your visibility to other drivers.
