Duncan Fire Department had BCEHS stop by for a presentation. We got a closer look at the equipment carried on board, where everything is located, and how it’s used in different situations. A great opportunity to learn, ask questions, and get some hands-on experience.

Thanks to the BC Ambulance crew for coming by and sharing their knowledge with us!💪

Scenario Training at Foxstone Stable

The Duncan Fire Department recently had the opportunity to take part in valuable scenario-based training at Foxstone Stable in Duncan, practicing a challenging scenario involving a victim trapped under farm equipment.

Training for situations like these is incredibly important. Farm and rural emergencies can present unique challenges, and hands-on, realistic scenarios help our firefighters build the skills, experience, and confidence needed to respond safely and effectively to a wide range of potential emergencies.

A huge shout-out and thank you to Georgia Hunt and Foxstone Stable for generously allowing us to use their property and equipment for this training. Opportunities like this are invaluable in helping our crews prepare for the unexpected and better serve our community.

Thank you, Georgia and Foxstone Stable, for supporting our firefighters and helping make this important training possible!

Know Before You Go: Check DriveBC During Wildfire Season

Planning to travel in BC during wildfire season? Before you go, check DriveBC for the latest information on your route.

Google Maps may not have the most up-to-date information about wildfire-related road closures, changing conditions, evacuation orders or alerts, and other travel impacts. DriveBC provides current information on highway closures, incidents, delays, road conditions, and travel advisories to help you make informed decisions before and during your trip.

Check DriveBC before you hit the road and stay informed about changing conditions

A special thank you to Captain Kyle Woodley for stepping up and answering the call to serve alongside crews from across British Columbia.

Duncan Fire Department continues to proudly support wildfire response efforts across British Columbia.

Pictured here are Alex, Mitch, Spencer, Brian, and Mike, representing the latest rotation of Duncan Fire crews supporting our ongoing assignment at the Big Bar Complex. As crews rotate in and out, our members continue to work alongside wildfire personnel and emergency responders from across the province, contributing wherever they are needed.

Audra is also deployed in support of our colleagues in the Malahat Fire Department.

We want to recognize and sincerely thank all of our members who have stepped away from their families, their regular lives, and, in many cases, their primary employers to answer the call. Their willingness to leave home and serve communities throughout British Columbia is something our entire department can be proud of.

These deployments are demanding. The hours are long, the conditions are challenging and at times dangerous, and the commitment required from our members and their families is significant. Yet, time and time again, our people step forward with professionalism, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to helping others.

A deployment like this is truly a team effort. It takes the members working in the field, the crews back home maintaining our local response, and the families, employers, and supporters who make it possible for our members to go when they are needed.

To every one of our deployed members: thank you. Your professionalism, resilience, and willingness to serve make us incredibly proud to call you members of Duncan Fire.

Stay safe, crew. We’re proud of you and we look forward to welcoming you home.
