NEW: Wheelchair Basketball Drop-In in Red Deer!

Looking for a fun way to get active, try something new, and meet new people? Wheelchair Sports Alberta is excited to launch a weekly wheelchair basketball drop-in program at Red Deer Polytechnic!

When: Monday evenings, 6:30–8:30 PM
Where: Kevin Sirois Gym, Red Deer Polytechnic
Running: Weekly until mid-December, with the program returning in the new year on Fridays!

Everyone is welcome! We encourage athletes of all ages, kids and adults alike, to come out and give wheelchair basketball a try. You don't need to have a disability or previous experience to participate. Athletes with and without disabilities are welcome, and equipment will be provided!

Whether you're new to the sport or have played before, we'd love to see you on the court.

A big thank you to the YourAlberta (Government of Alberta) and the Every Kid Can Play Grant for helping make programs like this possible and creating more opportunities for Albertans to get active and participate in sport!

Have questions? Contact Branden at [email protected].

Come join us and give wheelchair basketball a try!

Jumpstart Individual Child Grants Are Open for 2026!

Cost should never be the reason a child misses the opportunity to discover sport, build confidence, make friends, and find a community where they belong.

Canadian Tire Jumpstart’s Individual Child Grant provides financial assistance to help children from low-income families participate in sport and physical activity.

Funding of up to $300 per child, per year may be available to help cover eligible:
• Sport registration fees
• Equipment costs

For families involved in wheelchair and adaptive sport, these funds can help reduce some of the financial barriers that come with getting active and staying involved.

At Wheelchair Sports Alberta, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to play, participate, connect and belong. If your child is interested in wheelchair or adaptive sport, we can also help connect you with programs and clubs across Alberta.

📅 Applications for 2026 are now open.

Learn more and check eligibility through Canadian Tire Jumpstart:

Sport is more than the game—it builds confidence, friendships, independence and community.

At Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities, we’re committed to ensuring kids in need have equal access to sports and physical activity—and an equal chance to be their best.
